The Perfect Storm

On to the next chapter... The Perfect Storm. The this chapter describes how the internet as involved from Web 1.0 to Web 2.0 in that it is much more collaborative. A big part of this chapter is the Net Generation or people born after 1977. Basic this is the first generation to grow up in the digital age. They say that with the mass collaboration that Web 2.0 offers and the net gen that a perfect storm will drive changes in strategies and architecture of firms.

What i understand from reading this chapter is that Web 2.0 allows for collaboration that the world has never seen. As Web 2.0 becomes more common place companies are going to have to alter the way they operate. From the success of such companies like google and facebook i can say that the storm is build force and attacking the "old" way of business and relationships. Looking forward to reading how companies can adapt to the "new" way of business.

Ok, so i just received Wikinomics by Don Tapscott and Anthony Williams today in the mail, thanks amazon.com. I chose Wikinomics because the idea of mass collaboration interests me and i want to see how it develops. Anyways, after receving the book ive read the first chapter of the book which is roughly 40 pages. The first chapter mostly gives a introduction to how mass colloboration as developed of the live of the internet. The authors pervseve mass colloboration as a nessitity for organiztion to stay innovative with limited resources. The authors gives small story of organization that have had success with breaking coporate barriers and opening their problems to the public. They go to say that the four principles of openness, peering, sharing and acting globally define how twenty-first century corporations will compete (30). They also introduce seven models of the collabloration economy that will challenge the traditional business model. They are peer pioneers, ideagoras, prosumers, the new Alexandrians, platforms for participation, the global plant floor and the wiki workplace. These models will be address further in the book so I will keep you posted.
